The Process:

1. Contact me with information about your project. What type of document(s) do you need written or edited? About how many total words? What's your deadline?

2. I'll contact you within 24 – 48 hours with a quote for your project.

3. If you need your manuscript edited, I will request a five-page sample of your manuscript to determine the type of editing you'll need and the estimated length of time it will take.

4. After a quick review of your manuscript sample, I'll give you a quote for your total project.

For tips on manuscript preparation, please read my article: How to Prepare Your Manuscript for an Editor

Proofreading

I check for errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization, verb-tense consistency, pronouns, spacing, and formatting.

Copy editing

In addition to fixing errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation, I check for consistency and logic, ensure that all names and places are spelled correctly, adjust sentence and paragraph structure, make sure dates are accurate, and eliminate redundant words. There will be visible changes to your original document, and I ask that upon receipt of your edited document, you review the changes to ensure you are happy with them.

I use Microsoft Word’s Track Changes feature so you can see all changes I’ve made. You will easily be able to accept or reject the changes.
